Poor Andrew

I can't believe it....Andrew official has his first little cold :-(  He and I have now had two nights sleeping sitting up on the couch because he is so congested. He may even have a sore throat since he seems to be gagging a lot of his saliva. Poor little guy! First night I thought it was just that he had some reflux that he aspirated and he had some bronchial spasms. But yesterday he had a low fever for most of the day (100-101.5).  we gave him a very small dose of tylenol and he did perk up a little into the evening hours. Day 2 now the fever is gone but the congestion is definitely still in full force. Poor little guy must have sneezed 50 times this morning. At least the snots are coming out now which seems to be helping too. Just hoping that he doesn't spike anymore fevers so we don't have to take him in. The worry is that they will have to run a bunch of tests with him being so young but so far looks as though he is hanging in there! Just makes me sad to see him so uncomfortable. Both the girls got their first illnesses when they were 3 months old (their first christmas). Funny thing is at one month andrew is actual the size they were at 3months. crazy! Of course with congestion also comes lack of sleep! He sleeps so well most of the time but of course the only good sleep he is getting right now is if someone (mostly mommy) is holding him.
I am afraid we have to thank big sis Elizabeth for this episode. She also has been sick most of the week. Luckily no fevers for her but major chest congestion and back on her nebulizer up to 5x a day right now. She is so good about taking it though that it isn't a struggle at all in that department. Thankful Liv seems to have passed by this one. She seemed to have a runny nose for a day or so but didn't turn into anything! Thank heavens!
Hopefully within the next day or so we can have everyone healthy again and be able to enjoy the beautiful weather that has finally come :-)
We are getting ready for our visit from Tia V for Spring Break! We can't wait to have her come play with us!

One month old

Wow!.. our little man is ONE MONTH old today!! The time seems to be flying already! I just can't believe how smooth things have gone for everyone in the family. The girls are adjusting so well and other than being VERY active 2.5 year olds they are doing amazing with their new brother. They love to hold him and kiss on him and especially rub his full head of hair! lol!
As far as mommy is concerned, he is nursing so well, leaving me so much extra time (in comparison to the girls) with NO washing of multiple pump parts and endless bottle washing! Who knew?? :)
Andrew eats roughly every two hours in the morning, sleeping off on and on. takes a good 3-4 hour nap in the afternoon. then takes probably 2 feedings back to back before bedtime and sleeps for two stretches of a good 3-4 hours at night! I honestly couldn't ask for a better baby!! He is so laid back and does like to be held a lot. He really doesn't cry unless hungry (and sometimes just because he wants to be held.) What a different experience then the other two monkeys! And what a difference a "term" baby is compared to preemies!! :) ( yes I do spoil him a bit. I didn't get this kind of quality one on one time with the girls! )
When he's awake he already seems so aware of things around him. He responds to our voice and has even started 'talking" a little bit. He'll make little cooing sounds when you get right down next to him and talk to him. So cute! This just started in the last couple days. He can pick his head up and turn it side to side fairly consistently as well. Seems to be so much stronger than the girls were. I think the girls were three months old before they were doing even these small things. He constantly moved in the womb and that certainly hasn't changed :)

I am actually feeling pretty comfortable being out and about with two two years old and a one month old as well. I don't think I could have imagined that I would be ready to be out with three kids on my own at this point. It sure does help having the van too!! What a GREAT investment that was!!! In between errands if Andrew needs to eat, we just pull over in the back of the closest parking lot and I hop in the back with kids and a  watch a movie for 20 minutes while changing and feeding the little man! Girls are happy, mommy is happy, and Andrew is happy :)
I certainly struggled that very first week home (and was quite miserable to be honest) but ever since we have been doing pretty well.
I am so looking forward to the warmer weather and getting outside and letting the big girls burn off all the CRAZY ENERGY!!

Daddy is certainly enjoying his time with his new son as well. Unfortunately he is in the middle of budget season right now and his work hours are LONG! He does get his quality time on the weekends though! The girls have been having lots of fun helping him in the yard too :)
We were lucky to have him home for a little over week when Andrew was born! We will all be glad when budget season is finished!! whew!!
